Playing: Under 9's

The U9 age group is the third year available for TAG rugby, although it is easily picked up and does not require any experience at all of rugby, just a sense of  activity and fun. The current squad is 24 boys, some new this year and others have completed a successful year at U7 in which the Cheshire Cup was brought back to Stelfox Avenue!

TAG rugby is non-contact and tackles are made by pulling TAGs off velcro belts so it is a safe and fun way to begin the journey into rugby.  In accordance with RFU continuum we train each week for an hour before a fixture and for 2 hours where we have no game. Fixtures home and away over the season add fun and bring in a sense of teamwork and we ensure all the boys play equal amounts.

As we progress towards U9, we introduce the concept of contact rugby by limited training with tackle bags etc. but this remains for fun only and is never allowed in a game. We do ask that parents remain at the club for the duration of training and games.
