Pre Season Training

Tuesday, 06th July 2010

Senior training starting Tues July 6th at 7pm prompt and will continue every Tuesday and Thursday thereafter.

The already successful coaching team headed by Dylan O'Grady will include Brian Collier and Andy Daldry. However, we have cooked up something special for the first 12 training nights. Scott Pearson will be employed as Specialist Strength and Conditioning coach. These sessions will be available to all at training regardless of rugby standard / ability and all colts are welcome too. Membership is not a prerequisite for these sessions so feel free to bring friends along too.

Other plans to further develop the pre season training package at Kersal including specialist front row sessions are underway so keep an eye out for updates.

In case you don't already know him, here is some more information on Scott:

Scott Pearson

Strength & Conditioning Coach

After graduating from the Crewe & Alsager campus of Manchester Metropolitan University in 2000 Scott began working as a fitness instructor at the Total Fitness gym in Wilmslow. However, soon after this Scott decided to take matters into his own hands and set up a successful personal training business, which saw him coach a wide variety of clients from sedentary people looking to lose weight and improve their health to clients wanting to complete personal challenges (such as the London Marathon).

Scott has been involved in professional sport for over seven years and has worked with athletes, players and coaches of all levels; delivering an extensive range of fitness, strength, speed, weight management and nutrition programmes; with the aim of minimising injuries, whilst still enhancing athletic ability and performance. His most recent role was as Head Strength, Speed and Conditioning Coach at Doncaster Knights (where he implemented a structured, disciplined, thorough and innovative approach to individual and group-specific gym/field based conditioning; as well as position and injury specific rehabilitation programmes for injured players); but prior to this he accumulated over six years experience in the Guinness Premiership with Sale Sharks, where he worked from 2003 to 2009. As a member of the Sale Sharks coaching team that achieved Guinness Premiership and European Challenge Cup success, Scott was able to coach some of the best rugby players in the world, such as Jason Robinson, Andrew Sheridan, Mark Cueto, Sebastien Chabal and of course Andy Titterrell.

The field of sports science is forever developing and Scott is therefore keen to learn techniques and best practice from all sports (not just Rugby Union); and over the years, has worked with athletes in many different disciplines and backgrounds, such as; football, basketball, rowing, squash, synchronised swimming, fencing and trampolining. As an individual, he is as committed to his own personal development, as to those he works with; It is extremely important for any strength and conditioning specialist to be up to date, forward thinking and flexible to change and Scott makes sure that he embodies these qualities and reflects them in his practice.
