Welcome to the Junior Section of our Club. We are very proud of what we have achieved in this area and were one of the pioneers of Youth Rugby in the North West over 20 years ago. We have come a long way since those humble beginnings, with specific age groups from U7 to Senior Colts at U19 age. This takes into account 12 age groups in all. The Mini’s play from aged 6 through to the under 12’s section, whilst the Juniors comprise of the u13’s to U16’s, then we have Junior Colts at u17 and Senior Colts at u19.
We play/train each Sunday morning between 10am and midday, with the mini’s all playing at the same venue and juniors splitting with 2 teams at home (on match days) and 2 away. The Colts tend to play from midday onwards. The RFU Continuum is a national programme followed by all rugby clubs to ensure young players acquire rugby skills and can enjoy the game in a phased introduction to handling, contact and kicking. Due regards is given to physical and conceptual development. In a 3 week cycle we tend to train 1 week, then play 2 matches. We have one of the strongest fixtures in the North West and our season finishes with all players, coaches and many parents going on Tour somewhere in the world, finalising in a an Awards Day held at the Club in a 300 seater Marquee.
Our mission for all the boys and girls, is to train, encourage and develop all the boys and girls to such a degree that they will want to continue playing rugby union when they are adults. New players are always welcome: rugby is one of the most popular and enjoyable team games a youngster can play, with tremendous benefits for promoting personal development, sports skills and fitness. We have a dedicated team of Volunteers who put much work into the running of this important part of the club, which includes all parents for their help and regular contributions. We have at least 3 coaches at each age group with at least of them being Level 1 RFU qualified and also to have taken the referee’s certificate and often being First Aid qualified. The Club is most aware of current legislation and we seek to ensure that all boys and girls are taught in a safe and friendly environment. On this basis we have been awarded the RFU Seal of Approval and we continue to update this.

Should you require any specific information that is not available on this website please either contact myself, or one of the coaches in your particular age group. Whatever your involvement in the AK M&J Section I hope it brings you fulfilment and pleasure in enjoying our great game together.
